Paige Wunrow
Jacqueline Paige Wunrow has studied violin for 22 years. Her teachers include Soh-Hyun Park Altino of the University of Memphis and Janet Sung of DePaul University. A home-schooled graduate, she was the very first string major in the history of Union University. She played five seasons with the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. With the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra during her high-school years, she served as its concertmaster for several seasons, and has twice been chosen as winner of its concerto competition. She has placed first in regional violin competitions in Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and has twice won the top national honor in the AWANA Fine Arts Competition. An original melody of hers was arranged by her father, conductor of the Jackson Symphony 1988-2013, and performed by the Jackson Symphony. During her years at Union University she gained leadership skills as a private teacher, sectional leader, and concertmaster. Other music skills studied include composition lessons and advanced theory. At DePaul University, Wunrow played under teachers such as Michael Lewanski, Olga Kaler, and Cliff Colnot. Performances included concerts both in the DePaul Concert Orchestra as well as the DePaul Symphony Orchestra. She gave two graduate recital under the study of Janet Sung and took a conducting independent study for two terms with Cliff Colnot. Wunrow continues to teach over a dozen students weekly through the Indian Prairie School District in Naperville, IL and enjoys playing for churches and events. In her free time, Wunrow enjoys watching old movies and cycling recreationally and competitively with her husband, Stephen.
